both of em!

ok so I can cope without Thad around, I miss him, but when Dylan not around, my heart feels all weepy, I know, I know, I am a sad pathetic mum or something, I last saw him on Sunday, and wont see him till saturday as he is at the seaside with his nanny (ok a wet rainy seaside, but its been sunny on weekends when I have been there too)

It takes me a little longer to miss Thad as much as I miss Dylan, its been well over a month now, and I cant wait to see him.

At the same time, I am very frightened to go back to Austria, the prospect of giving birth amid german talkers, and my brain not functioning enough to understand what they are telling me is very very scary indeed!! makes me want a c section where I dont need to understand anything, and if you heard me talk about my last c section you'll understand thats a drastic answer from me!!

Well, I guess Thad is going to have to have a special german birthing language lesson to be my translator for the day!!

are there no English-language birthing clinics or something? I can see how giving birth amongst a bunch of people speaking in tongues would be distressing. I sense a business opportunity...

And good luck.

...I sense an X-files sequel. Roomful of strangers wielding scary implements and speaking in tongues... with big black eyes and no mouths... Nah, it's been done before.

I've a *novel* idea! by ti dave (5.00 / 1) #8 Thu Aug 19, 2004 at 03:57:56 AM EST
Why don't you go to Wien on the blessed day, do some medical translating and then buy Thad a bier during all of that boring "labour" down-time?

Dude, it's not even her first time! She won't need him to stand there, looking useful.

it may not by flowergrrl (6.00 / 1) #10 Thu Aug 19, 2004 at 10:14:27 AM EST
be my first child, but with my first, I never even got far enough to have a single contraction, I have no idea what labour is even like. All I know is how it feels to be told that your baby will die inside you if you dont go and have it surgically removed later that day....

So in effect, I am a first time mum to be..

and I think its me who'll be needing the beer!! :)

As I understand it, thinking of sugar plum faeries takes the edge off of labour.

May the Force be with you!

That's aimed in the general direction of a work culture that keeps families apart and separated by the vasty deeps.  I hear you loud and clear, and hope you're all re-united soon and it goes smoothly for sprog #2.
